RULES
Why are Rules Necessary? School must be a safe and protected environment where students can come to learn. Rules are used to set limits. Limits tell students how far they can go. Limits are important in school because different kinds of behavior are expected or tolerated by different teachers. - Harry Wong, The First Days of School
Classroom Rules
- Always do your best.
- Treat others the way you would like to be treated.
- Take pride in your classroom and your school.
- Keep your hands and feet to yourself.
- Use kind words and good manners.
Cafeteria Rules
- No horseplay while in line.
- Select a seat and stay seated.
- Use good table manners.
- Clean up after yourself.
- Trade food with classmates fairly.
Playground Rules

- When you are called to line up, immediately do so.

Rules are most effective when there are consequences to enforce them and reward them. Consequences are what result when a person abides by or breaks a rule. Consequences are not punishments. It is simply what happens when a person does something. A consequence is the result of a person’s chosen action. - Harry Wong, The First Days of School
Positive consequences: Rewards that result when people abide by the rules are positive consequences.
Negative Consequences: Penalties that result when people break the rules are negative consequences.
